How to respond to the consultation
The second phase of consultation on the London Southend Airport and Environs Joint Area Action Plan or “JAAP” comes to a close on 9th April*.
* Southend Borough Council say that the consultation has been extended to 15th May. However, neither the Southend nor Rochford Council websites show this deadline change at present. When telephoned on Friday 3rd April, Rochford Council Planning Department said they were unaware of a change of deadline and that as far as they were concerned, it was still 9th April.
Responding offline
The councils prefer people to respond online, as it means less work for them, but if you have any friends, relatives or neighbours who don’t have an Internet connection, they should phone the appropriate council:
Rochford District Council
Sam Hollingworth 01702 318102
Southend-on-Sea Borough Council
Debee Skinner 01702 215408
Ensure that you make it very plain that you are objecting to the proposals – during the first phase of consultation a large number of objections were classified by Rochford District Council as “comments” and were therefore not counted as opposition to the scheme.
