Consultation – Phase 2
The second phase of consultation on the London Southend Airport and Environs Joint Area Action Plan commenced on 16th February 2009 and had an initial deadline of 27th March 2009. Very soon after the consultation started, this deadline was extended to 9th April. However, distribution of Southend Council’s “Have Your Say” leaflet was done extremely poorly. The outside contractors hired to deliver the leaflets claimed that 95% of households had been delivered to by the beginning of April, while our experience suggested that 95% was the proportion that hadn’t received it.
On this basis, Southend Council decided that they had to redeliver the leaflets and therefore extended the consultation deadline to 15th May. Even so, we know that there are parts of the borough that still didn’t receive their copies of the “Have Your Say” leaflet – Thorpe Bay, for example.
The following figures show the responses to the second phase of consultation as of 14th May, 2009 – the day before the consultation closed. Note that this will only include online submissions, so final figures are expected to be significantly higher. Thanks to John for compiling the statistics.
