On the basis that “It may be that other occupiers/owners of your property or neighbours are unaware of the proposal” and that Andrew Meddle invites us to “show them this notice”, it is reproduced below.

After living in Leigh very happily for 32 years I am dismayed that you can even contemplate extending the runway. The quality of life for thousands of people in the area will be greatly reduced because a few people who do not even live in the area want to make money. You have already blighted our lives moving Belfairs School onto our back gardens so please don’t blight our lives any more.

I object on the strongest grounds to the proposed expansion of the airport. Presently Leigh is a fairly peaceful place to live, I have lived here for 37 years, and the thought that the quality of life will be greatly reduced is very upsetting. The roads (even with the proposed improvements) are not equipped to deal with the volume of traffic which currently uses it, let alone the vast increase in traffic that an expansion would bring. Why should my young family and I have to suffer a huge increase in airplane noise, both during the daytime and night, because Stobbarts and the Southend Council want to make money? Are they going to give me full compensation for the loss of value on my property? And indeed, compensate me for the fact that we will be unable to enjoy spending time in our garden due to constant airplane noise overhead? Additionally, how does an airport expansion which would result in increased flights fit in with the Government’s quest to reduce carbon emissions?? I do not want the airport runway expansion to go ahead and wish to register my strong objections to this proposal.
